Drawing With Water Colour Pencils

This class will introduce colour into your drawings through the use of water colour pencils. These pencils are fun to use and allow an easy transition between drawing and painting.The course will focus on the various techniques that can be used with this medium and will introduce some aspects of colour theory. The class is suitable for beginners or those wanting to polish up the skills they already have.

Materials required:

  • Water Colour Pad – A3 sheets, acid free, cold pressed, at least 185 gsm (eg. Reeves Water Colour Paper A3 300 gsm at Officeworks is $12.98)
  • Set of water colour pencils – set of 12 or 24 pencils is enough to start (eg. Derwent 24 pack at Officeworks is $23.29)
  • 3 water colour brushes, different sizes. 2B or 4B sketching/graphite pencil Spray bottle
  • Glass jar
  • Paper towels

Adding Mixed Media to Your Drawings

This class will build on your drawing skills, using both back and white techniques and coloured media, combined with a range of mixed media to take your drawings to another level. This added layer can involve the use of rubbings from interesting surfaces, textile fragments, prints of old photographs or anything that will glue to a paper surface. The class is suitable for those who have done some initial drawing or want to polish up the skills they already have.
